About me
Troy is a native Californian, a disciple of the High Sierra and a practicing artist. At an early age in, Troy encountered a significant learning disability, which directed his attention into visual and kinetic forms of learning. Despite not having graduated from high school, Troy eventually went on to study figure drawing and sculpture at U.C. Davis, where he received opportunities to work in the studios of mentoring artists, both in New York City and in Davis and was eventually introduced to the world of large-scale public art.
Over the last 30 years, Troy’s career has focused on the creation of architecturally integrated public art, completing commission projects through a variety of municipalities across the US, such as the City of San Francisco, City of San Jose, the City & County of Sacramento, The Denver Regional Transportation District and the Des Moines Area Regional Transit District: and for private institutions, such as the Cleveland Botanical Garden, Kaiser Permanente, Target and Boston Properties, S.F..
Troy is currently working the Truckee Donner Land Trust and the Town of Truckee on a sculpture for DEWBEYÚMUWEɁ PARK on West River St. in downtown Truckee. This last year, he recently completed a project with the Deschutes Co. Public Library system in La Pine, OR. Locally, Troy and Sara Smith collaborated on an Upstate California Creative Corps grant, awarded by the CA Arts Council, through the Nevada County Arts Council, designed to bring nature drawing workshops to youth participants through a school year long program at the Boys & Girls Club in Kings Beach, CA.
